Chairman Phillip Plato was joined by Guest of Honour Iain Percy OBE and over 100 OPs at the OP Society Dinner 2022 at the College on Saturday 29 October.

With OPs ranging from 19 - 92 years old there was an excellent representation from across the decades, with Courtney Edenborough (45-48) the senior man on deck.

Huge thanks and congratulations must go to Robin Paine (55-58) for his excellent organisation of a fantastic event. Guests remarked on the excellent food provided by the new College caterers and the excellent wine provided by Tom Bendall (94-97) of Wallingford Wines. Some OPs were also treated to the delicious new cocktail brand 'Gunner' provided generously by Giles Fuchs (78-83).

The Guest of Honour Iain Percy OBE gave a warm and inspiring speech remembering his good friend and former sailing companion Andrew 'Bart' Simpson (90-95) who was sadly lost in 2013. Iain is a double Olympic and multiple world champion, is one of the most talented and successful sailors in the world. Iain has a remarkable Olympic pedigree, winning gold in the Finn class at the Sydney Olympics; before teaming up with lifelong friend Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson to win gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and silver at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Iain had his first taste of America’s Cup action in 2005 as helmsman for +39 Challenge, and was part of Great Britain’s America’s Cup challenge, Team Origin. He joined Artemis Racing at the end of 2012 as tactician, following the London Olympics. After showing inspirational leadership qualities during the difficult final few months of the 34th America’s Cup campaign, he was appointed Team Manager in October 2013. Iain is now responsible for leading Artemis Racing’s challenge for the 35th America’s Cup.
