The pub was beautifully adorned in the public areas downstairs where pre-lunch drinks were held with their Christmas decorations and open log fires . We repaired to the upstairs private room for an excellent two course lunch with choice of menu, including the traditional turkey and Christmas pudding, followed by mince pies, petit fours, tea and coffee.
Three toasts were proposed, and glasses raised, to Absent Friends, the College and His Majesty the King. The banter and laughter said it all - It was a good old fashioned runashore in pensioner style, which, put into context, meant that everybody was able to make their own way home without assistance.
There was much enthusiasm for a repeat performance next year, the private room at the Wykeham Arms has been duly booked for Monday 1st December 2025.
