Pangbourne College has enjoyed an impressive Lent Term of sporting success across a wide range of disciplines, with pupils demonstrating determination, teamwork and a strong competitive edge.
Girls’ football has been a particular highlight, with the 1st XI producing a series of confident performances against some of the country’s top football schools. A thrilling 4–3 comeback victory against Bradfield College showcased the team’s resilience. Trailing 2–0 at half time, Pangbourne fought back with composure and belief to level the score before securing a memorable win. With further victories against strong opposition such as Charterhouse, the team’s rapid progress this season has been clear.
In Rowing, pupils have benefitted from the College’s new land training facilities and this progress was evident in a competitive fixture against The Oratory. Racing over 1000m and 250m on ergometers, many athletes recorded personal bests, reflecting the high standard of training throughout the term. Pangbourne’s strength in depth proved decisive, with victory secured in a closely contested team relay. With winter weather disrupting many Head races, crews are now looking ahead with excitement to the upcoming regatta season.
Rugby 7s also takes centre stage in the Lent Term. The U18 1st VII delivered an outstanding performance at the Marches 7s, hosted by Hereford Cathedral School. Playing fast, physical and exciting rugby, they secured impressive wins in the group stages before narrowly missing out against a strong Cathedral School Llandaff side, underlining their continued development since the Michaelmas Term.
Equestrianism continues to flourish. Following a National Schools victory last year the team secured a Berkshire County Championship title this term and are preparing for the County Championship competition at Hickstead in May. Individually, Lottie has qualified for the Royal International Horse Show which stands out as a remarkable achievement, rounding off a term defined by commitment, resilience and ambition.
