Old Pangbournian Frankie Allen (2015–2020) has officially received her MBE at an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle on Tuesday 9 June, marking another proud milestone in an extraordinary sporting journey.
Frankie was presented with her honour by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, in recognition of her services to disability sport and her work promoting opportunities for young people to participate in sport. Investiture ceremonies are regularly held at Windsor Castle on behalf of the King, with members of the Royal Family presenting honours to recipients from across the country.
The occasion held a special significance for Frankie, as Princess Anne remarkably remembered meeting her at the post-Paralympic celebrations held at Buckingham Palace following Team GB's success in Paris. Their reunion provided a fitting personal touch to a day that recognised years of dedication, perseverance and achievement.
Since leaving Pangbourne College, Frankie has established herself as one of Britain's leading para-rowers, becoming a Paralympic Gold Medallist as part of the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four crew at the Paris 2024 Games. Her success on the water, combined with her commitment to encouraging greater participation in sport, earned her a place in the honours list.
Reflecting on the occasion, Frankie described the day as a memorable celebration of the people and experiences that have supported her journey. Sharing the moment with family and friends at Windsor Castle made the recognition even more special.
The Pangbournian Community congratulates Frankie on this well-deserved honour. Her achievements continue to inspire current pupils and fellow Old Pangbournians alike, and we look forward to following the next chapter of her remarkable career.
