Golfers fight for Whitmore Trophy Title
In all, 8 student golfers took part in this year’s Whitmore Trophy Competition at Sandford Springs Golf Club, playing a scratch medal tournament for the main trophy, as well as a Stableford handicap competition alongside. It was a challenging day for the less consistent golfers, with the back nine particularly featuring a number of, at times, wearying, uphill and downhill climbs. The prestigious Whitmore Trophy, which recognizes the best golfer in the College, was given to the school by John Whitmore, an Old Pangbournian with a passion for golf.
The Stableford winner was Jack Walters (Year 10, Macquarie). The winner for the longest drive was Rory Price (Year 8, Dunbar), while Rory Hogan (Upper Sixth, Harbinger) took the nearest-the-pin prize.
Mr Jeffers said, ‘A thoroughly enjoyable day and we hope more can join us next year to compete. The juniors are on their way!’
