Pangbourne College Sixth Form students had a special opportunity to hear from Rosie Ginn, Schools Manager at West Berks Foodbank about the vital support they provide to families across West Berkshire.
Rosie spoke about how they help local people in crisis and why their work is so important. Students learned about the challenges some families face, including food insecurity and how organisations like West Berks Foodbank provide practical help to those in need.
Students also discovered ways they can get involved, from volunteering and fundraising to organising food collections. Rosie emphasised that even small contributions can make a big difference in the community.
“The visit encouraged our students to reflect on their own privilege and recognise that not everyone in our area is as fortunate. Even in a more affluent community like West Berkshire, some families face insecurity and our students saw that they can make a real difference by supporting their neighbours,” said Head of Sixth Form, Ms Kaur.
By learning about the foodbank’s work, students gained insight into local needs and the importance of compassion and community support.
