On Tuesday 8th April between 8–9am Peru time (2–3pm UK time), Jess and Miriam left the dock and began their journey across the Pacific, from Peru to Australia rowing 8000 miles completely unsupported. Just two women, the boat, and the open ocean. Preparations for the challenge involved juggling full-time jobs while planning, organising, training, and living every moment with this challenge in mind but now is the time to put all that hard work to the test.
The girls will be rowing up to 15 hours a day, fuelling with 5,000 calories, and catching sleep between shifts. The crossing could take up to six months.
Jess says, "this challenge has already brought some incredible people into our lives, and we’re beyond grateful for the support that’s carried us to this starting line. Now, it’s time to row. We can’t wait to take you with us through the highs, the lows, and everything in between. And let’s not forget the reason we’re doing this — to raise money for The Outward Bound Trust UK"
You can follow Jess and Miriam and their boat, Velocity, by clicking on the link below, where you will also find links to the Seas the Day social media channels, and off course we will be keeping you up to date with the girls progress via this portal and our own social media channels..
