Turning for home 5 down Giles, who uncharacteristically struggled to get to grips with the damp greens, fought back valiantly winning two holes but not enough to prevent Will taking the match 4 and 3.

Well done Will, for the third consecutive time but with 2 under gross for the round few amateurs could have bettered him and indeed it was a credit to Giles, who scored better than his 12 course handicap, that he held on for so long.
