Baker L.J. (37-39) A retired Lt Cdr RN and a farmer post-WW2 who died in an aircraft accident 16.02.1956

Collis, C. Patrick R. (37-41) Lt Cdr RN. On retiring from the RN, he became skipper of the sail training vessel Winston Churchill. Died 12.11.2013 at Dawlish, Devon.

Connell, Robert Beattie (36-38) Listed as “Killed in Action” 12.07.1951. At the time he was a Flying Officer in the RAF and was test flying a Sea Fury aircraft near RAF Tangmere in Sussex when the engine failed. A member of the 1st X1 in summer 1938, he averaged 33.75 with the bat “little pretension to style” and was known for his “brilliant fielding.” He went into the MN with Blue Star Line but joined the RAF in 1940. In the team photo he stands next to R.A. Shuttleworth, another RAF pilot who was killed in action in 1941. In 1946 Connell was awarded the DFC for actions in Burma in 1945.

Coventry R (37-40) died 13.3.2019 aged 95 in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, Australia. D’Albiac, Christopher Hugh Francis (36-40) born Sept. 1922, 1st X1 cricket 1939, Lt Cdr RN, died 18.11.1959

Elmsley, Michael Basil (35-39), born 13.07.1921 at St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland. Married 1947 in Portsmouth. One son Simon. Lt Cdr RN who retired from the Navy 1964-65. In 1966 was living near Edinburgh. Died in Chelsea, London October 1998 aged 77.

Goldsmith Derek Richard George (36-40) joined RN from NCP, served in battleship Queen Elizabeth and four destroyers in WW2, retired from RN in 1962, died 14.01.01 in St Jean Cap Ferrat, Cote d’Azur, France.

Graff-Baker, Carey (37-40) born 1924, married Dec. 1948, emigrated to New York/USA Aug. 1960. Retired to Salisbury, Wiltshire. Died in Brittany, France 27.06.2014.

Harvie, John Donald M (34-38), born 23.01.1921. Served in RAF in WW2. In 1945 was a Pilot Officer (Navigator). Post-war, settled in Sian (Thailand and worked as a tin miner and was still tin mining in 1963. Died in Surrey June 2001 aged 80.

Hickman, P.N (34-39). Civil engineer. Died 20.08.14.

Holt, Michael Charles N (37-40) born 25.01.23, died July 1997 in Malvern, Worcs. Aged 74.

James, James Ivor (35-38), born 20.07.1921. Lt Cdr (E) RN awarded the MBE. Died 23.07.2002 in Beckenham, Kent aged 81.

Kenyon, Reginald Henry (37-40), Hotel Manager, died 16.10.2015 aged 91 at Canford, Dorset.

Learoyd, David Iain (36-40) – formerly Lang, born 22.04.1923, married July 1950 Huddersfield, died 9.06.2002 Radnage, Bucks. Aged 80.

Peerse-Jones, Owen George Anthony (36-40), born 13.02.1923. Served in the MN in WW2. Worked in the paint industry post-war. In 1963 lived at Kingston Hill, Surrey. Died 01.08.2003

Rockett, Hugh Fitzjohn (37-40), born 26.08.1923. Went into the MN with the New Zealand Shipping Co. Died in Bournemouth Sept. 1984. Probate form states: “Last seen alive 13.08.1984; dead body found 08.09.1984.” Left an estate “not exceeding £40,000.”

Murray, Michael (36-39), born 26.05.1922. Captain (S) RN 1968. Died November 1996 aged 74 or December 1997.

Scott, Alexander Graeme Mackenzie (36-39), born 13.06.1922. Served in the (E) branch RN. Cdr RN. Married July 1944. Died in the Southampton district of Hampshire July 1971 aged 49.

Slatter, John P S (35-38), born April 1922 in Barnstaple. In 1962 was a Major in the Royal Army Medical Corp. Died November 1996 in the New Forest area, aged 74.

Swayne, Peter Wilbraham (38-39), died 18.02.2007 aged 83 at Bagborough, Somerset.

Topham, Arthur Humphrey (35-38), born 1921 in Eastbourne, Sussex. Served in the RN in WW2 and in 1946 was seconded to the RNZN. In June 1961 he married a New Zealander and until 1975 was listed as working for a firm in Wellington, NZ. Fate unknown. Had a son, Dr. JM Topham who practised in NZ.

Venables, Gilbert Rowland (37-39), died 14.01.2008

Venables, Michael Rowland (34-38), born July 1920 Oswestry, Shropshire. Served in the Royal Corps of Signals in WW2, rising to the rank of Major. Joined the Colonial Service and was employed by it in 1963. Died “suddenly on holiday in Australia” 07.10.2006 aged 86 according to the Ludlow and Tenbury Wells Advertiser.
