Construction is underway on Pangbourne’s landmark £2.1 million boathouse facility, scheduled to open its doors in 2027. Designed to take full advantage of what is widely considered the best stretch of rowing river in the country, the new development promises to transform the rowing experience for current and future generations.
The modern footprint centers around one large, independent boathouse with capacity to house the entire fleet - from single sculls to eights. Complementing the storage facility is a dedicated, separate club room featuring complete changing facilities, showers and toilets. Beyond its practical amenities, with exceptional views of the river, the new Club Room will serve as the heart of Pangbourne rowing: proudly displaying historic club boards to honour past achievements while providing a dedicated space to celebrate new crews and victories.
Importantly, the architectural design maintains the wonderful, unobstructed views of the river for the surrounding village, preserving the local landscape whilst upgrading the College’s sporting infrastructure.
This project is made possible through strong partnerships. The College is proud to work with:
The Final Pull Appeal
With construction progressing, attention now turns to crossing the finish line. If you would like to be involved as the project powers down the home reach, the College is now raising the final funds required to fit out and equip the new Boathouse and Club Room.
Supporters, alumni, and friends of rowing are invited to take part in this lasting legacy. To learn how to support or contribute to the finish-line fundraising effort, visit The Boat Club Appeal.
