Charlie Parry once again organised another excellent gold day for the OP Golf Society on 18 May at Beaconsfield Golf Club.  Over 30 OPs expressed interest in playing and despite a few last minute cancellations, there was a good turnout that was blessed with fine warm weather on the day. OP Society Chairman, Phillip Plato, although not a golfer, dropped in to welcome everyone for a most enjoyable lunch in the club house.

After bacon rolls on arrival, play commenced at 9.00 with groups of three teeing off at 10 to 20 minute intervals and included OPs across a range of ages including:  James Ellis, Pip Smitham, Richard Parrett,  Andy Campbell, Richard Sarsfield-Hall, Christopher Reed, George Gale, Matthew Arnold, David Lewis, Hugh Fraser, John Cooke, Charles Llewellyn, Kris Kemp, Peter Lowe, William Skinner, Ken Jones, Charlie Parry, Nigel Ackerman.

Despite Beaconsfield Golf Club apologising for the fact that the club have had a small problem with some of the greens which had led to there being brown marks on some, this did not detract too much from play.   The problem apparently occurred in February and the greens were still recovering but as they were still not back to their best, the Club said that the OP Society could play all 18 holes again in the afternoon,  at no extra cost.

After a most enjoyable lunch, all elected to play again in the afternoon with tea, sandwiches and prize giving at conclusion.

The OP Golf Society aims to play at least a couple of times a year at a variety of different courses including a match against the College in the autumn.  Anyone interested in joining the OP Golf Society should contact Charlie Parry or join the OP Golf group on this site.
